Philippines is Asia’s most popular beach destination, surpassing both Indonesia and Thailand.

The Philippines, with its more than 36,000 kilometers of coastline, has been named “Asia’s Leading Beach Destination” by the World Travel Awards this year, surpassing both Indonesia and Thailand.
The honor was bestowed to Thailand in 2014, 2015, 2017, and 2019, and was most recently held by Indonesia.

The tropical warmth and diverse landscape of the Philippines, which comprises more than 7,000 islands, attract beachgoers and boost the country’s economy.

It was also announced during Tuesday’s awards event that the Philippines was named “Asia’s Leading Island Destination.”

Situated more than 300 miles south of Manila, the tiny island of Boracay is about seven kilometers long and was named “Asia’s Leading Luxury Island Destination.”

Furthermore, the Philippine city of Cebu was recognized as “Asia’s Leading Wedding Destination.”

An accolade bestowed upon the tourism and travel sector, the World Travel Awards have been going strong since 1993 and are sometimes called the “Oscars of the travel industry.” Experts in the tourism sector and members of the general public cast ballots each year to decide who gets these prestigious prizes.
