Isabella was not always the current fitness fanatic. “I used to struggle with motivation,” she says, grinning as she studies her old exercise diary. Her path was one of making long-lasting improvements rather than of short solutions.
Her first phase is locating activities she really liked. “I experimented with a lot of exercises until I discovered what suited me. Dancing and strength training, for me, were revolutionary. Laughing, she recalls her first dancing lesson. “I was quite disorganised!” Still, it was entertaining, and that drew me back.
Isabella also came to see the value of having reasonable objectives. One cannot expect to change over night. Start with little, realistic objectives and expand from them. It was about weightlifting for her and tracking her improvement. “Every tiny triumph brought me one step towards a stronger, healthier me.”
Isabella’s practice now is regulated and balanced; she exhorts people to discover their rhythm. “Fitness is a road trip.” Celebrate the small victories and keep in mind—you are stronger than you believe. She says with assurance.
